Hermie and Friends

I always keep my eyes open for good kids materials to use with the children I work with, and also to be able to pass them on to my grand daughter. I had seen some of the previous “Hermie and Friends” collections, so jumped at the opportunity of checking this new one out when I saw it advertised!

I like the way the stories each focus on a pretty specific topic and through the fun, colorful and interactive stories help to bring the lesson to light for the children. As the saying goes, “A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words” and so it is true once again that a tool like this goes very far in helping children to see some of the values and morals we try to explain and teach them in their lives. It can be one thing when situations come up in day to day interactions with them for me to explain some of the ins and outs, but when they see it in such a fun, interactive way, it helps it go much farther.

Hermie and Friends “A Bug Collection” Volume 3 is a 3 DVDs set with 1 episode on each DVD, focusing on one concept at a time. Included in this set are:

“Milo the Mantis Who Wouldn’t Pray” – This story teaches children about prayer, that we don’t have to do anything special or use any special words to talk to the Lord, He’s always right here to listen and answer.

“Buzby and the Grumble Bees” – In this episode, children learn about behaving.

“Hailey and Bailey’s Silly Fight”. – Then it’s on to a lesson on how silly it is to fight, especially over little things.

There are also a couple of coloring pages for each story that you can print out if you use your DVD drive on your computer. An extra plus!
